How to Reset a Mazda Service Maintenance Light

If the maintenance reminder stayed on after service—or you did the work yourself—use the steps below. If the reminder returns, book a visit so we can check the underlying cause.

Method A — Mazda Connect™ (Most 2014+ Models)

  1. Turn ignition to ON (engine can be off).
  2. On the infotainment, open Information (or Applications on earlier Mazda Connect).
  3. Select Vehicle Status MonitorVehicle Maintenance Settings (or Maintenance).
  4. Choose the service item (e.g., Oil Change, Tire Rotation) and select Reset (or Reset Service Interval).
  5. Confirm. Turn ignition off, then back on to verify the reminder cleared.

Menu names vary slightly by model/year (CX-30, CX-5, CX-9, Mazda3, Mazda6, MX-5). If you don’t see Vehicle Maintenance Settings, check Settings → Vehicle → Maintenance.

Method B — Instrument Cluster (Some older/pre–Mazda Connect models)

  1. Turn ignition to OFF.
  2. Press and hold the Trip/Info button on the cluster.
  3. While holding, turn ignition to ON.
  4. Keep holding until the maintenance indicator blinks and resets (≈5–10 seconds), then release.
  5. Turn ignition off, then on to confirm.

Button labels differ (TRIP, INFO, or a wrench icon). If this doesn’t work, use Method A or see your owner’s manual.

Heads-Up

  • Maintenance reminders are time/mileage counters—not fault codes.
  • If the light returns soon after reset, intervals may still be due or unsaved.
  • A Check Engine light indicates a stored fault—schedule diagnosis.

Common Items to Reset

  • Oil Change Distance/Date
  • Tire Rotation
  • Other Service (e.g., brake fluid)

FAQs

Where do I find the reset on a CX-5 or CX-90?
Use Mazda Connect: InformationVehicle Status MonitorVehicle Maintenance Settings. Select the item and choose Reset.
My light came back after a reset—why?
Intervals may still be set to zero or past due. Re-enter the menu, set proper distance/date, then reset. If it returns again, schedule a check.
Is it safe to drive with the maintenance light on?
It’s a reminder, not a fault. But overdue maintenance can cause wear. Book service if unsure.
Does this clear a Check Engine Light?
No. CELs are fault codes and require diagnosis—please schedule service.
